Spell Check
[edit]Could we get a basic spell check on this article, I can spot at least three problems already (74.0.85.66 (talk) 21:19, 2 July 2008 (UTC))
Syndicate Number
[edit]Victor Echo November Seven Niner (VEN79) - I gathered that this was his personal number for the Guild, or something similar. Could I be wrong? -th1rt3en 18:50, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- No telling who's right, but I assumed it was some sort of code indicating the Ventures. - DynSkeet * Talk 20:36, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ok I just watched it again, and the second mention of it Phantom Limb says: "Blackout target: Victor. Echo. November. Seven. Niner. is in daddy's lap." So, you're probably right Dyn, that looks to be the Venture family's number. And it makes sense too I guess: VENture -th1rt3en 05:36, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Real name
[edit]I heard his last name as "Fantomas", not "Fantomos". Does anyone have a solid source for the spelling currently in the article? -DynSkeet (Talk) 12:47, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Requested move

The result of the proposal was Move. Duja► 06:52, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Phantom Limb → Phantom Limb (character) or some other disambiguator to avoid confusion with phantom limb.
WP:PRECISION recommends "adding a parenthetical (bracketed) disambiguator to the page name: for instance when both spellings are often or easily confused." — AjaxSmack 01:07, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Survey

- Support any bracketed disambiguator. — AjaxSmack 01:07, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose. We have a number of articles pairs where a proper noun-phrase (with capitalization) and improper noun-phrase (without capitalization) link to each other. All we need is the appropriate {{for}} template at the top of each article. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 17:57, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- That's not much of a counter-argument (see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS). Point out the others so I can WP:RM them too. The fact remains that Phantom Limb differs from the primary topic by only one letter case (L) qualifying it for a disambiguator per WP:PRECISION. — AjaxSmack 02:44, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS may also indicate that you have interpreted the guidelines. As it stands, there's no harm in having both articles if appropriate {{for}} templates are present, as each of phantom limb and Phantom Limb have a clearly most common use. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 18:50, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- In this case WP:PRECISION specifically mentioned {{for}} and {{seealso}} disambiguation before creating disambiguators. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 19:04, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- True, but the example given is WASP/Wasp which differs by three letters (or a CAPS-LOCK engagement) whereas Phantom Limb differs from the primary topic by only one. In addition, phantom limb, as the primary topic, has far more general relevance than an American cartoon character. Both of the factors warrant consideration of "when a reader enters this term and pushes 'Go', what article would they realistically be expecting to view as a result?" which would likely be the primary topic. — AjaxSmack 01:01, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- Support - per nom. Barely different spelling is way confusing; there is absolutely no reason not to be a qualifying parentheses on the end. The Evil Spartan 18:59, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- Total Support The missing body part is totally the primary topic that most everyone is going to look for. Dude, lets face it. Not everyone can type dat good. So not everyone is going to type in the "proper capitalization" when looking for phantom limbs. They may type PHANTOM LIMB or phantom limb or Phantom Limb or Phantom limb or phantom Limb and there is no reason why each and everyone of those links should go to what they are intending to find. This capitalization part is silly and the brackets is not going to hurt this article. It is just not as important or primary of a topic as the real phantom limbs are. 205.157.110.11 03:19, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- Support per nom. DrKiernan 11:32, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- Very strong support, I'm sorry but there's no way we can let a villain in a lesser Cartoon Network being in the slightest confusable with a medical subject of primary importance--Victor falk 20:23, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]I tried to start some wider discussion on the topic at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (precision), but without significant input; we ought to have a wider consensus on the topic. Duja► 13:33, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:VB215.jpg
[edit]Image:VB215.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The Lair of the Phantom
[edit]Should it be pointed out that Limb's home, the Lair of the Phantom, is (or is meant to look just like) Frank Lloyd Wright's Storer House? The only difference I can find is that the real house doesn't have the stairs coming off the upstairs balcony. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pete buchholz (talk • contribs) 02:57, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
